Position Title: Food Pantry Graduate Assistant 

 

Hourly Compensation: $18.00

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Associated Students Inc., CSUF Food Pantry helps serve students of CSUF who face food insecurity on campus. The goal of the Food Pantry is to ensure equitable access to nutritious food resources. This position will be responsible for maintaining, developing, and supporting educational activities at Cal State Fullerton, as well as collaborating with and serving as the Food Pantry spokesperson. This position also will also assist with stocking shelves and maintaining the overall appearance of the Food Pantry. Assists students in finding requested grocery items or questions. Handle food products in a safe and sanitary manner. Maintain, update, organize the Food Pantry email account and respond to and or forward messages appropriately as well as answering phone calls.


Food Pantry Duties
• Assists with various Food Pantry projects, including operational policy development and review, project proposal development, assessment and food inventory tracking.
• Perform necessary tasks and provide overall supervision to ensure safe and efficient daily operations of the ASI Food Pantry.
• Maintain, manage and outreach relations with community partners.
• Develop and implement an outreach plan to promote the ASI Food Pantry and engage community interest.
• Assists with the recruitment, hiring, training and supervision of the ASI Food Pantry staff and volunteers.
• Plan and implement student programs and/or training sessions as needed.
• Provide general front desk duties to include answering the phone, handling walk-in inquiries and taking messages.
• Provide innovative, intentional programs and initiatives that actively engage the campus community in issues related but not limited to food insecurity, sustainability, and basic needs.
• Ensures customer service is conducted in a courteous and professional manner to students and all other employees.
• Maintain list of on-campus resources for those who are experiencing food insecurity.
• Maintain inventory of food and disbursement of food.
• Attend and participate in programming meetings.
• Coordinate programs details including, location, time, date, and/or marketing
• Assist with event set-up, event execution, and event break-down.
• Adhere to food handling safety guideline as well as physical ergonomics safety standard guidelines.
• Maintain, update, and organize the Food Pantry email account and respond to and/or forward messages appropriately.
• Maintain a clean and orderly spaces.
• Assist in receiving of product, as well as loading and unloading.
• Assist in ordering specific products based on the needs of the Food Pantry.
• Assist in proper product placement, rotation, positioning, storage and handling.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly space maintenance of food pantry, storage room and any supplies.
• Maintain strict adherence to safety procedures; attending safety meetings as scheduled
• Complete other related tasks or projects as assigned by supervisor.


Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

Education:
• Must be enrolled Graduate Student at a University and in good academic and disciplinary standing.

Experience:
• Customer Service experience recommended
• Have proven experience working cooperatively as part of a team

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer services.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments.
• Model, promote, and consistently enforce ASI and TSU policies.

 

Additional Requirements:

Typical Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 lbs properly.
• Frequently required to sit, talk, listen, walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.


Special Requirements
• Must be able to pass a urine drug screen. Employment will be contingent on a satisfactory employment history and criminal background investigation.
