Position Title: Graduate Assitant - Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Initiatives 

 

Hourly Compensation: $15.78

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the TSU Associate Director, the Graduate Assistant provides support in the advancement of ASI’s corporate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity (DEI) initiatives, to include the development of integrated long-term strategic plans, research and assessment, and program development.

• Review corporate and departmental policies and procedures to identify areas of potential growth or development concerning DEI
• Develop assessments in multiple formats
• Prepare reports and presentations as directed
• Conduct research regarding industry trends and current events relevant to DEI initiatives
• Assist in the planning and facilitation of various programs and training
• Collaborate with student leadership to develop and promote complimentary DEI planning. Attend ASI Board of Directors meetings as directed. Present to Board members as directed
• Work closely with ASI supervisors to assess and identify DEI growth and development themes as they pertain to student staff and volunteers
• Assist in the formulation of DEI audits and assist in the assessments of those audits to identify current DEI needs of the organization.
• Assist in the development of resource libraries
• Attend regular meetings with supervisor
• Other duties as assigned


Education:
• B.S/B.A. degree required.
• Enrolled/enrolling in a graduate degree program focusing on sociology, student affairs, or human services preferred.

Experience:
• Some experience in college student activities preferred, but not required.

Knowledge and Abilities:
• Must possess strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish and maintain effective, cooperative, and harmonious relationships within a diverse campus environment.
• Knowledgeable in basic tenets of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Social Justice themes
• Excellent time management and planning skills.
• Ability to work independently while adhering to established deadlines.
• Must be able to interpret and carry out Associated Students Inc. and University policies. Ability to interpret and apply program policies and procedures. Ability to rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions, and programs of the Associated Students Inc.
• Word processing, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook knowledge required. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong presentation skills.


Typical Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.

Special Requirements:
• Required to be a Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Limited Mandatory Reporter Form.
