Personal Trainer

Hourly Rate Staring at $15/hr


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, the Personal Trainer will provide exercise plans and instruction to fee-paying members to address their individual needs, abilities, and fitness goals, through private and semi-private consultation/sessions.

  • Provide initial consultation and assessment with clients.
  • Develop progressive fitness/exercise plans to achieve agreed upon goals.
  • Perform one on one orientations and or group orientations on all machinery.
  • Lead clients through exercise routines.
  • Provide instruction on proper technique.
  • Demonstrate and encourage correct warm-warm and stretching techniques to avoid injury.
  • Providing innovative and challenging exercises to keep clients engaged and motivated.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest personal training techniques and best practices.
  • Provide feedback and encouragement.
  • Enforce safety at all times.
  • Maintains accurate records of personal training sessions on a daily basis.
  • Assist in program and specific special events.
  • Must attend and participate in mandatory trainings.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as stated in the SRC Private Trainer Manual.


Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:


  • Must be enrolled in or accepted to California State University, Fullerton.


  • Previous personal training experience is desirable.
  • Kinesiology major is preferred.
  • Recreational or commercial gym facility work experience preferred.
  • Complete Student Recreation Center Personal Training Program AND/OR equivalent education and experience.
  • Possess a nationally recognized Personal Training Qualification: NSCA, ACSM, ACE, AFAA, NASM

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work under moderate supervision.
  • Must be able to interact effectively with students, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and interests.
  • Must have good verbal communication, decision making and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to enforce rules and regulations to one’s peers.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to keep an accurate record of hours worked by clocking in and out correctly.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to safely carry and lift up to 50 lbs.

Special Requirements

  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Required to be a Limited Mandatory Reporter and sign ASI Limited Mandatory Reporter Form.
