Irvine Recreation Lead

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under minimal supervision, the Recreation Lead will work with the Operations Coordinator and be responsible opening and closing of the Irvine Campus and all operational daily functions. 

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for preparing accident, missing item and incident reports as required, and contacting appropriate University personnel in case of emergencies within the necessary time frame.
  • Must maintain strict adherence to safety procedures and attend all safety meetings as scheduled.
  • Report any malfunction of lights, doors, locks, and other building systems as required.
  • Personally greet and welcome all members and guests.
  • Conduct customer service in a courteous and professional manner (in person, phone, email).
  • Conduct facility tours as needed.
  • Perform cashier functions per established cash handling procedures as needed.
  • Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures per IrvineCampus Manual.
  • Open and close building as scheduled; monitor general operations and events to ensure facilities and equipment are used properly; perform audio/visual and physical set ups as required.
  • Oversee general building comfort and cleanliness.
  • Monitor locker room and restroom cleanliness and maintain inventory supply levels.
  • Notify University Police to pick up lost/found items as needed.
  • Respond for building systems and emergency maintenance and cleaning.
  • Make regular safety and security checks of all interior and exterior areas.
  • Prepare written report for each shift.
  • Oversee all emergency management functions in absence of full time staff.
  • Serve as event supervisor for events scheduled outside normal operating hours
  • Perform other duties as required

Education, Work Experience Requirements and Abilities:

 Education:       

  • Must be enrolled in or accepted to California State University Fullerton.

Experience:

  • One year customer service experience required.
  • Previous facility operations and or recreation experience preferred.

 Knowledge and Abilities

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Must be able to attend and participate in mandatory trainings and meetings.
  • Must be able to be on time, prepared to work and adhere to department dress code.
  • Must be able to keep an accurate record of hours worked by clocking in and out correctly.

Typical Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs properly.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local.
  • Frequently required to sit, talk, listen, walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; clear verbal communication.

 Special Requirements

  • Upon hire employment history and criminal background investigation will be completed.
  • Mandated Reporter Designation: Limited
  • Must be able to work late night, weekend and special programmed events as needed.
  • Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED Certification within 30 days of employment.
